Bio
Fourteen years ago I signed up for a modern dance class, only to find that a bellydance class had taken its place. As fate would have it, I stayed to see what the class was all about and have been bellydancing ever since! While you could classify my style as primarily Egyptian cabaret, I enjoy all styles of bellydance and have taken classes and performed Turkish cabaret, Turkish gypsy, American tribal style (ATS), tribal fusion, and Egyptian folkloric.
I have performed throughout Western Washington as a soloist and member of several troupes and I have had the honor to dance to incredible live musical accompaniment by House of Tarab, Brothers of the Baladi, and Solace. I am currently collaborating with two other local teacher-performers, Mylee and Katy, to bring you Mamafuko, an eclectic and electric performance trio.
I am a lifelong learner and continue to seek out training opportunities with master instructors, to enrich my dance expression and to impart my experience and education to my students. I have taken classes from fabulous local teachers as well as workshops with world-renowned performers like Suhaila Salimpour, Jillina, Sonia, and Delilah. I have also been honored to sponsor workshops right here in Bellingham with local bellydance legend Shelley “Yasmela” Muzzy and international bellydance superstar Aubre.
It’s my mission to help my students unlock their inner artists, get a good workout, and have fun while they’re at it!
